Amy Louise Nettletons art practice is strongly concept lead and explores themes of degeneration, life cycle, ownership and preservation. She uses found objects and non traditional mediums to develop beautifully crafted sculptures, installations and assemblage works that initially catch the viewer’s eye before engaging them on a more conceptual level.
Amy graduated with a BA Hons Degree in Fine Art from Essex University specialising in sculpture and installation (2009) and a 20th Century Art History Degree course with the Open University (2010).
Amy has continued to exhibit new work across UK and is now exploring international opportunities. Along side national exhibitions she has also worked as Artist in Residence at University Campus Suffolk via the AA2A scheme (2010/11).
Since completing her degree Amy undertook a twelve month Curatorial Internship at SMITHSROW gallery with Curators Catherine Hemelryk, Liz Cooper and Rosie Grieve (2009/10). When not her studio, based in Suffolk, she visits schools in the capacity of a Visiting Artist delivering talks on her art practice and runs art workshops in several locations across Suffolk.
When an artist uses a conceptual form of art it means that all of the planning and decisions are made beforehand and the execution is a perfunctory affair. The idea becomes a machine that makes the art... Conceptual art is only good when the idea is good.
